Hooded penitents parade through the streets of Alcañiz, during the Semana Santa (Holy Week) Celebrations.
Similar parades take place throughout Spain, although the inclusion of the drumming appears to be very prevalent in this region of Aragon. Although the costumes appear very similar to those of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) it is likely that they have different origin. Nevertheless, these hooded figures certainly have an air of intimidation to them as they parade through the towns to the beat of the drumbeats.
