The Kumbh Mela occurs every 3 years at one of four locations, Its a huge event that’s attended by millions of pilrims.
In the year of 2010 it was the turn of Haridwar in Uttarakhand at the foothills of the Himalayas to host the ardh kumbh mela. Hindus from all walks of life travel vast distances by bus, train, plane, boat, any means possible to experience the event, as it is said that simply by bathing in the waters of the river Ganges on these auspicious days passed sins will be forgiven, ensuring liberation from the eternal cycle of rebirth.
