Guy Fawkes – Bonfire night

Every year on the fifth of November Guy Fawkes Night is celebrated to commemorate the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The Gunpowder Plot was meant to kill King James I and destroy the English Parliament which was under Protestant rule. Guy Fawkes and 22 other Catholics conspirators Packed the cellar below the houses of parliament with gunpowder, it was at the very last moment when Guy Fawkes himself was caught trying to light the gunpowder that their plan failed. To this day the 5th of November s celebrated with fireworks ad the burning of effigies. The largest celebration takes part in the small town of Lewes in England.
